Impact of the ‘Administrative Law Trilogy’ on Military Law

Tomorrow, 20 December 2019, the Supreme Court of Canada will hand down its judgment in the ‘Administrative Law Trilogy’, otherwise referred to as the Vavilov/Bell Canada/National Football League trilogy.

While I would love to post an comprehensive examination of how this case will or might impact military law within mere hours of the judgment being handed down, I won’t be able to do so.  Other matters will take precedence.

However, Dear Reader, do not despair.  It is still the Christmas season.  And I will provide my initial insights on, or shortly after, 25 December 2019.

For the time being, I wait in anticipation to see if the Supreme Court of Canada will give administrative law practitioners a shiny new ‘Red Ryder carbine-action, two hundred shot range model air rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing which tells time’ or a lump of coal.

Please, please, please, don’t let it be the coal.
